Tesla & EV Servicing
Large Drive unit rebulds
The Tesla LDU (installed in all Performance and Rear wheel drive Model S and X cars up to 2021) is an amazing piece of tech but it has a few fatal flaws
One is the rotor cooling seal, which leaks and causes corrosion in the motor that can eventually take the motor soon if not dealt with. The fix we recommend is a coolant manifold that completely removes this passage just as Tesla themselves have done in recent years.
Another is bearing issues. Sometimes this is caused by coolant ingress, other times this can be natural failiure. The main bearings that fail causing a “dentist drill” noise are often the rotor bearings. There are also bearings in the gearbox that go bad from time to time. We can help with all of the above!
*Coolant deletes start at $1500 including a new manifold, axle seals, checkover, isolation check, coolant and transmission fluid.
*Full rebuilds start at $4500 including all new bearings, fluids, seals, and a coolant delete manifold.
Control arms and suspension
EV’s are heavy cars and often take a bigger toll on items like suspension bushings. We often find cars coming in with torn bushings like in these pictures that many are unaware about. The car for a time may still drive normal
The first sign is typically bad tire wear, followed by squeaks and eventually everything feeling a little loose. It’s imperative to get these corrected as they are critical safety devices for keeping your car and you safe.
Tesla’s in particular are notorious for bad inner tire wear, which is due to the camber of the vehicle. This can be corrected with a camber adjusting control arm like the one picture below to help you get the most out of your tires!

Standard maintenance
Fortunately for owners of Electric vehicles, regular maintenance is significantly reduced compared to internal combustion vehicles between no oil to regularly change, lesser brake wear due to regenerative braking and just not having exploding internal gases which take a toll on parts!
There are still several items you as an owner should be aware of that we can help address! The following is an example of items you should keep in mind to be addressed
Tire rotations every 5,000 miles
Brake cleaning and lubrication every 2 years
Brake fluid exchange every 2 years
Low voltage battery replacement every 3-5 years
Cabin air filters every 6-12 months
HEPA air filters every 2 years
A/C filters every several years (depends heavily on make and model)
